*High pitched squealing*
I'm getting married to my best friend.
I can't even begin to explain how gosh darn excited I am. 3 years, 8 months and 3 days after saying yes to being his girlfriend, I said yes to being his fiancée and I could not be happier. He asked for my parent's blessing before-hand which I think is just an extremely sweet and traditional thing to do. Especially because of how close I am to my family.
We went out to dinner at Mt. Fuji in the same mall where we had our first date. We met our friends Kevin, Taylor & Chris (and their new baby) and had a delicious dinner. Then they suggested taking a group picture. Taylor & Chris live out of state, so we don't see them often, I didn't think anything of it. They "took a picture" of me and Doug in front of a huge Christmas tree and the ice rink, and they got the whole thing on video as he knelt down and asked me to marry him.
We had talked about getting married before, we're already living together and knew that we were going to get married once I finished school so I had some idea it was coming. We also had looked at engagement rings about a month before so I knew he had purchased a ring.
He had been complaining that night that the ring wouldn't be ready until after the new year and how it shouldn't take so long, and of course I believed him. So the proposal was a complete surprise which is awesome because I normally ruin surprises with my control-freakish personality.
I made a video about it too.
I can't even begin to tell you all how excited I am to spend the rest of my life with this man. He's a man of God, he makes me laugh and I can be completely myself with him. He brings out the best in me and I know that through ups and downs he'll always be the one I want by my side.
Okay enough of the corny-lovey-dovey stuff. I will be posting more about wedding planning and things like that since I will be planning a wedding for the next year and a half. If there is anything you'd like me to write about specifically just let me know below and I'd love to do a post about it.
