How Planners Changed my Business

How Planners Changed my BusinessHow Planners Changed my Business

First off, I planned this post months ago, before I knew that this week, Asana would unveil their new features and design. Perfect timing, right? Today we're going to talk about planners, tools and apps - all things that can seriously help us get organized, or distract us from what's really needing to be done.

I'll admit, I'm a planner addict. I have a planner on my desk right now, I also have a wall calendar, my google calendar and an Asana calendar... sound like a lot? Before you tell me I'm crazy, hear me out. There is a method to my madness, and I know it can work in your business too.

The Emily Ley Simplified Planner

Emily Ley is adorable. I love her brand and how gracious she is about her business success. Her personality is what drew me into her brand to begin with (I'm a sucker for Christian brands who are killing it online). The planner itself is perfect for my school, personal and family life.

Recap: The simplified planner stays at home or school with me. I only use it for personal events or school work. I also use the daily pages every morning as my daily (most important) to-do tasks.

Google Calendars

Oh Google Calendars. This is such a great tool and I don't think people use it to the full potential! Google Cal is my main hub for all the schedules. I put EVERYTHING in here because Calendly is scheduled according to Google Cal. This makes it easy for me to never double book clients or have to reschedule.

Recap: Google Calendars is my main hub - all my events go in here so that when it's connected to calendly, my clients can schedule meetings without overlapping events I already had planned.

Asana

Between Asana and Evernote, I feel SO organized and systematic with my tasks. Asana is a task management site that takes your to-do list to the next level. You can use it for project management, task lists, team convos and just about everything in between.

Asana has A TON of features, which can make the learning curve a bit steep - so that's why I'll be hosting an Asana Workshop next weekend for anyone who wants to dig deeper! To sign up, click HERE.

For now, I'll give you a quick overview of how I use it to keep my client work organized!

Recap: Asana is my taskmaster. Anything that is an actionable task goes in here. From laundry to next month's sales page reconstruction, all my plans, outlines and templates are in here. I sync the Asana calendar into Google Calendar to keep my brain in one spot.

The Wall Calendar

Recently I realized I needed a calendar for business-related things only. Just like my own personal calendar, I needed a cleaner look at what my week looked like in my business.

Recap: Much like my simplified planner is only for personal stuff, my wall calendar is only for business. I color code to help me quickly glance at things and see what's most important.
