Creating Products As a Multipotentialite

Hello Bright and Happy people! Stephanie was so kind as to let me address all of you once again. I wanted to take this opportunity to talk to all of you about how to create products when you identify as a multipotentialite. This is something that I only recently discovered how to do and now that I learned how, I wanted to pass on the knowledge to you.

What Is A Multipotentialite?

For those of you who are really confused by the word multipotentialites, let me give you a quick definition. I know there are many ways to explain what exactly being a multipotentialite means, but I think Emilie Wapnick has the definition that resonates the most with me.

As Emilie defines it, “a multipotentialite is a person who has many different interests and creative pursuits in life.” If you’ve followed my blog - even if you just look at it right now - there really isn’t a singular direction it follows. I felt so guilty about not being able to actually niche down and be able to define my direction. Then I heard her TedEx Talk and it felt like all of my guilt was swept away.

Since starting to shift my view from a conventional blogger to a multipotentialite blogger, I have been working on shifting the products and services that I currently offer or am planning on offering to be in line with this shit. It’s been a process to figure out what I’m going to offer, but I am incredibly excited to get this all started.

Are you ready to stop feeling creatively limited and be able to make anything and offer it up to your community? Let’s get started!

Where Do I Start?

If you find yourself overwhelmed with everything, take a step back and walk with me. If you are just about to switch your branding over to let your community know about your new multipoteniality status, then your job is a piece of cake.

If you have already switched over and your community knows you’re a multipotentialite, your job is also very easy. In one of my other guest posts, I spoke about how to craft and create your brand as a multipotentialite. I want to give you a little overview to help you understand how to go about creating products.

Basically, what I said was that it may be beneficial to you if you take all of your interests and tie them together under an overarching theme. For instance, my love for writing, organizing, coaching, entrepreneurship, and helping people is all under the umbrella of assisting small business owners, freelancers, and bloggers with anything they may need.

I also went a bit further and decided not to take on a label that included a specific job title. I am currently calling myself a writing multipotentialite entrepreneur.

Creating Your Products

Start your products in an area that makes the most sense. As you shift from product to product, move in a way that makes the most sense. As you are creating the products, start shifting the content you publish to be in line with the types of products you are wanting to be launch.

For instance, when you move from products to coaching business owners to coaching writers, then your blog, social media content, and any other content you publish should follow that topic change before you publish your next product.

Review + Action Steps

Here’s where I give you a bit of review of everything that I wrote (mostly for those who skimmed the whole post) and give you some action steps so that you can put this information to good use! So here are the following points:

  • Multipotentialism a person who has many different interests and creative pursuits in life
  • Being a multipotentialite allows you to expand your direction of product and content creation
  • Brand yourself as a multipotentialite by crafting an overarching theme that encompasses all of your interests that make the most sense together
  • Plan out your products for the year, quarter, or month
  • Craft the product that makes the most sense for your community first
  • Then start to shift your product towards the next interest that makes the most sense
  • Shift every piece of content that you create and share towards the new topic before you launch the new product

That’s all for me today. I hope you found this post interesting and helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns about anything in a comment below.

Have a bright and colorful day!
